Carcassonne board gameCarcassonne, the clever tile-laying family board game has just been released in a mobile version available for BlackBerry mobile devices. This is yet another board game made into a mobile app, this comes just weeks after we reported Trivial PursuitsScrabble and Catan coming to BlackBerry mobile devices.

Carcassonne is a city of France which is famouns mostly for it’s unique Roman forts. The purpose of this game is for players to develop the area around the city of Carcassonne by building roads, cities and cloisters. The way the area is developed will depend upon who ends up being victorious in the game and who doesn’t.

The original board game was created by Klaus-Jurgen Wrede and is intended for players aged 8-12 years of age and is suitable for 2-5 players. The mobile device allows you to play against the computer or against up to 4 other players in the local vacinity.

Carcassonne for the BlackBerry is available to purchase from the BlackBerry Appstore. At the time of writing this article there are 5 reviews for the game, 4 of which appear to be positive, therefore so far so good. We’ll just have to see how well this one is recieved.
